Safer Play
Gambling should stay entertainment, not a way to make money or solve a financial problem. This page covers the tools available to you and where to find help.
Age restriction
In most Canadian provinces the legal minimum age for online gambling is 19. Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec set the minimum age at 18. This site is not intended for anyone under the legal age in their province.
Common signs of problem gambling
- Spending more time or money on gambling than you planned to.
- Chasing losses by depositing again to try to win back money already lost.
- Borrowing money, missing bills or hiding gambling activity from people close to you.
- Feeling irritable, anxious or preoccupied with gambling between sessions.
- Struggling to stop or take a break even when you want to.
Tools you can use
Deposit limits. Most licensed operators let you set a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit, directly in your account settings.
Time-outs. A time-out temporarily locks your account for a set period, from a day to several weeks, without closing it permanently.
Self-exclusion. Self-exclusion closes your account for a longer period, or permanently, and is available through most operators and through provincial self-exclusion programs.
Reality checks. A reality check is a pop-up reminder that shows how long you have been playing and how much you have spent during a session, so time does not slip by unnoticed.
